A Day in the Life of…
A typical day in the life of a freelancer or sole trader might start with an early morning alarm call at 6am – just in time to get ready for the weekly networking breakfast meeting. It finishes around 8.30 but you seldom leave before 9am, eventually starting ‘work’ around 9.30.
Because you understand the importance of consistent and persistent networking, you’ve signed up for a local networking lunch – it’s only once a month so not too heavy a commitment. The problem is, people start arriving around 12.15 so you really need to crack on and get some work done this morning before you set up. There’s loads to do, but there’s also a stack of follow-ups to take care of: what’s it to be? Spend the morning on the phone chasing up possible leads or do some work on the latest project?
The lunch meeting is enjoyable, but you wonder whether it was really worth the time… you didn’t get away until well after 2pm and meanwhile work has piled up in your absence. There are phone messages and emails to respond to, customers chasing you up, and one or 2 ‘firefighting’ issues to attend to. Checking your diary, you realise you’re booked to attend a speed networking event that kicks off at 7pm…
Wouldn’t it be great if there was an easier way to generate business sales leads without having to leave your work unattended?
