Half Term Breaks in Southern England
Planning a half term break this Autumn? In the South of England you’ll find absolutely loads of fantastic fun family activities going on. Whether you’re considering a romantic weekend away somewhere different or a full-on family half term break, there’s plenty to choose from – and there are some great Bed & Breakfast deals available too…
Southern England boasts a full agenda of events and activities throughout the Autumn and beyond, making it a great choice for a half term autumn break. Let’s take a closer look at what’s on in the Southern region.
Animal lovers should head to Bedfordshire this autumn. Halloween Week starts on the 20th October at the Bedford Butterfly Park, the Anglian Wolf Society annual ‘Walk With Wolves’ season runs until 7th November, and Whipsnade Zoo are holding pumpkin carving sessions throughout half term week.
Down on the South Coast, there’s plenty happening too. 70s supergroup Chicago are appearing at the Bournemouth International Centre and Pavilion Theatre from 22nd to 27th October and opera lovers can enjoy Madame Butterfly at the same venue from 12th November.
It’s the time of year for Halloween and fireworks so if you’re around Windsor this autumn, why not pay a visit to Legoland for their Halloween Fireworks (20th-31st October)? Thorpe Park near Chertsey are holding their firework shows between 2nd and 4th November – and they’re opening late for ‘fright nights’ throughout October. Fireworks at Ascot Racecourse will be held on 3rd November. Back in Windsor we have Circus Surreal at Windsor Racecourse (19th-28th October) and the annual Christmas Market in Eton (15th-17th November), featuring goods from across Europe and the UK.
